On a chilly afternoon in January, some John Muir Award pupils from Dalry Academy visited the Red Kite Feeding Station at Bellymack Farm, Laurieston.
Organised by the Crichton Carbon Centre’s Biosphere Explorers Project Officer Shalla Gray, the children were treated to the amazing sight of approximately 130 red kites meeting to socialise and have lunch. The children learned about the successful reintroduction of Red Kites to Dumfries & Galloway – a real example of positive conservation in action.
The children then enjoyed a cake and a cup of tea in the relative warmth of the visitor centre!
