Resilient Hills
This new programme of work is funded primarily be the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, triggered by our observation that our uplands are becoming increasingly vulnerable to erosion and water loss. We need to expand and develop approaches to restore our peat soils which underpin the hydrological and ecological function of our uplands.
To achieve restoration at scale and build resilience throughout our vulnerable uplands and catchments, we need to target restoration to improve the resilience of our uplands and ensure integration with land management practices. Restoration must be complimentary to land management objectives and not seen as a compromise but a multi-benefit opportunity. This programme of work explores how to achieve this.
