Peatland Restoration Card Game
Work together to restore a degraded peatland before the breeding birds return in Spring!
The Peatland Restoration Card Game is a quick single-player or cooperative game (up to 4 players) using real life peatland degradation features, obstacles, and examples to simulate the experience of peatland restoration designers and contractors.
Restore three different conditions by playing action, resource, and progress cards – and hope you can solve or withstand the game effects at the end of each round!
Recommended for ages 11+. Expected time to play 5-15 minutes.
Featuring over eighty beautiful illustrations by Kerry Morrison, this game can be played as intended or as a storyboard of restoration, visualising a process that most people will never see in person. This game, designed by Carys Mainprize, can be used as a teaching tool for anyone involved with, or interested in, peatland restoration.
The game can also support unit 2 and 3 of our Introduction to Peatlands customised award, accredited by SQA at SCQF level 5 and available to secondary schools.
