The courses assume delegates have little prior knowledge but a keen interest in carbon management. We focus on Carbon Management in a business and organisational arena where the skills and knowledge learned can be applied to any organisational context. All our sessions are interactive and delegate participation is encouraged. Information is delivered by lecture but the courses are relaxed with a high discussion content. Wherever possible, practical illustrations of key points are provided.

Day 1 Day 1 starts by exploring the need for change – why an organisation should understand and manage carbon emissions. The opening presentation tackles what is meant by climate variability and climate change. Delegates become comfortable with the core concepts and language of climate change and carbon management. This is followed by an identification of the drivers for, and barriers to, organisational action. Building on this foundation, delegates learn how to define and calculate an operational carbon footprint. This leads to exploration of the processes for identifying and evaluating carbon reduction opportunities. CCC’s extensive experience with a wide range of clients means participants will be given a very practical ‘How to’ Guide to footprinting and learn how to identify & prioritise options.

Our Courses are currently undergoing CPD accreditation with the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
|
Day 2 In addition to learning the complexities of footprinting and carbon management delegates on this programme learn to actually use them to make a difference in their organization. At this early stage in the development of the subject there is a high potential for resistance to emission reduction activity and this needs to be addressed.

|
The session ends with a consideration of the value of a Carbon Management Policy and an activity which allows participants to begin drafting a statement for their own organization. This is an active course with several group exercises designed to provide practical competence, including evaluating the carbon footprint of a model company. The course includes an assessment process so that participants can be awarded a CCC certificate on completion.
